GOGGLEBOX PRESS RELEASES

Gogglebox format ambushes Euro, Lat Am nets

Networks in Europe and Latin America have commissioned local versions of Gogglebox’s “ambush-style” gameshow format Stand Out From the Crowd.

Sky Italia has ordered a 65x30’ run of the Sony/2waytraffic-distributed format to go to air later this month. Toro Produzioni, the Rome-based prodco owned by 2waytraffic parent Sony Pictures Television (SPT), is producing.

Portugal’s RTP1, meanwhile, has commissioned six hour-long episodes, with Valentim de Carvalho producing.

Turkey’s ATV has also ordered its own version of the show and Moldova’s Prime TV has taken a 13-part run. Colombian network City TV has ordered 26 episodes.

More pick-ups are to be announced soon and the format has also been optioned by undisclosed parties in Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Australia.

Negotiations for the show in the UK are also nearing completion.

The show sees random members of the public ambushed via public screens and participating in live quizzes and games at venues ranging from shopping malls and to stadiums.

The contestants answer questions against the clock, supported by the crowd who can shout out answers, before facing a final round without support from the public to win a cash prize.

Gogglebox has recently produced shows such as Move Like Michael Jackson (BBC3), Gerry’s Big Decision (C4) and Trust Me, I’m a Dealer (BBC2). Its magic gameshow Impossible? was commissioned in August by UK terrestrial Channel 5.
