MTV To Take Plain Jane Global

MTV has commissioned Gogglebox Entertainment to make the reality makeover series Plain Jane for its international networks with production to start this spring.

The 8x60 series will be filmed in London, New York, Paris and Rome with the show to air internationally on MTV in autumn.

Plain Jane will follow the same format as the US original, with a girl receiving a fashion makeover each week helped by style expert Louise Roe. At the end of each episode the girl unveils her new look and reveals her feelings to a secret crush she has had.

Paving the way for the order, MTV has acquired the rights to air the original 6 x 60-minute Plain Jane series internationally.

David Booth, senior vice president of content for MTV International, said airing the US series first would help to introduce the format to international viewers.

“Plain Jane reflects our audience’s tastes and core attributes that translate well internationally, such as fashion, life transformation and love, to a really engaging and standout host,” he said.

The series will be executive produced by Gogglebox’s Mat Steiner and Adam Wood with MTV’s Booth, Andrea Speziale-Bagliacca and Ilya Colak-Antic.
